The Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform discussed a focal programme for the next five years at its second working session in Hanoi on Dec. 4.

President Truong Tan Sang, head of the committee, said the programme needs to thoroughly grasp and implement guidelines set on the documents of the 11th National Party Congress while sticking close on Politburo Resolution 49-NQ/TW on the judicial reform strategy up to 2020.

He asked committee members to complete the drafts on Criminal Law, Civil Law and Judicial Procedures Law while clearly defining their power to organise the apparatus of judicial offices as well as building policies to train judicial staff.

The President also requested committee members to speed up amendments and supplements to the 1992 Constitution.

Interested in the training of judicial staff, Sang asked the justice, procuracy and tribunal sectors to strengthen active coordination in recruiting devoted and talented people as well as readjust payment policy in accordance with the specific characteristics of judicial activities.

He said the 2011-16 period marks the beginning of comprehensively speeding up the renewal process, laying a foundation for Vietnam to become a modern-oriented industrial country and building a better law-governed socialist state./.
