The 9th National Symposium on e-government, themed “ Building e-government integrated with administrative procedure reform” opened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 14.

The symposium was organised by the National Steering Committee on Information Technologies (NSCIT), the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) in cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, and the International Data Group (IDG Vietnam).

The annual symposium is regarded as a major forum for experts and leaders at all levels, aiming to further promote deployment of programmes and projects in order to enhance effectiveness of e-government, reform administrative procedures in parallel with investment and development of information technology in State bodies.

The two-day event will hear six reports of Vietnamese and foreign leaders and four special subjects, analysing application of information technology in the Vietnamese Government, the results of administrative procedure reform in Vietnam through applying information technology over the past ten years.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop asked ministries, sectors and localities to speed up the building of electronic government processes and electronic authorities under the guidelines of MIC.

Minister Hop said it is necessary for Vietnam to learn from advanced countries in order to build an e-government model with criteria of effectiveness, practicality and sustainability./.
