Authorities of the northern province of Hai Duong have given a monetary fine to Tung Kuang, a Taiwanese-invested aluminum company, for discharging untreated waste water into the Gie river.

Accordingly, Tung Kuang, located in Cam Giang district, will have to pay 312.1 million VND (roughly 14.980 USD) for its polluting deed.

Hai Duong has also requested the company to strictly abide by Vietnam’s legal regulations on environment protection while operating in the country and quickly fix the consequences it caused.

In April last year, Tung Kuang was detected to pour directly to the river untreated water found to contain such toxic substances as COD, TTS, Crom III, Crom VI, and cyanide, at the levels higher than standards./.
