The second International Tea Festival will take place in the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen from November 9-11, announced the festival’s organising board at a press conference on October 22.

This year’s festival will draw the participation of 84 delegations, including three foreign, and 24 from other provinces that grow, process and market tea products.

A wide range of activities are scheduled for the festival, including a tea culture festival, a tea carnival, conferences on tea products and tourism promotion, the Miss Tea Land Contest, a photo exhibition featuring the beauty of Vietnam’s land, people and Thai Nguyen tea, and a market introducing specialities of Vietnamese ethnic groups.

According to Ma Thi Nguyet, Vice Chairwoman of the Thai Nguyen provincial People’s Committee and head of the organising board, the beauty pageant will be the main activity of this year’s festival with the number of candidates doubling that recorded in the previous event.

She said the host province, the capital of tea in Vietnam , has completed preparations for the festival, from urban decoration to cleaning tea fields and establishing a tea street in the centre of Thai Nguyen city.
On this occasion, two national and international records will be announced.

The festival, co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Thai Nguyen provincial People’s Committee, aims to promote tea products, growers and the drinking culture of Thai Nguyen and Vietnam in general.

It also helps enhance cooperation in tea production, processing and consumption between Thai Nguyen and other provinces, as well as between domestic and foreign growers, processors and consumers.-VNA
