Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan presented Tet gifts to 200 policy beneficiary families and Agent Orange/dioxin victims during his working visit to the southern province of Bac Lieu on February 1.

He laid wreaths at the war martyrs cemeteries in Bac Lieu province and Hoa Binh district, and burnt incense at the national historical relic, Uncle Ho Temple, in Chau Thoi commune, Vinh Loi district.

Bac Lieu province alone earmarked more than 22 billion VND for gifts to poor households and families living close to the poverty line.

As a result, more than 21,000 policy beneficiary families, almost 24,000 poor households and over 14,000 other families living near the poverty line received gifts from the Party and State.

On January 31, the Standing Committee of central Quang Binh provincial chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union presented 1.5 tonnes of clothes and 60 gift packages to disadvantaged, policy beneficiaries and families of martyrs.

The committee also donated textbooks, books and 33 school uniforms to disadvantaged students in mountainous Thuong Trach commune, as well as Tet gifts to soldiers and officers at Ca Roong Border Guard post in the commune.

The same day, the Ethnics Committee of central Thua Thien-Hue province gave Tet gifts to 170 esteemed members of minority ethnic groups in the province.

Meanwhile, the southern province of Hau Giang earmarked more than 21 billion VND to help poor and policy beneficiary families enjoy Tet.-VNA
