The Thai electricity firm Egati will invest in a 1,200MW thermal power plant worth around 2.26 billion USD in the central province of Quang Tri.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Cuong announced the investor and the Prime Minister’s guidance for the plant on August 21.

The plant will be built in the form of BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer), and will be transferred to Vietnam after a 25-year period.

According to Cuong, the plant, which will cover 450ha in Hai Lang district, will include two turbines with the first one being expected to be operational between 2019-2020 and the second one, in 2030.

Once operation, the plant will generate 7.25 billion kWh of commercial electricity.-VNA
