The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting for ASEAN ambassadors on July 15 to convey the Thai government’s foreign policy, which focuses on fostering economic relations with their respective countries and on Thailand's readiness to be part of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

According to Foreign Minister Surapong Torvichakchaikul, around 70 ASEAN consulates and ambassadors invited to the meeting were informed of the Thai government’s policy, which pays great attention to consolidating regional relations and promoting investment opportunities before the arrival of the AEC.

The Foreign Minister also stated that Thailand was highly praised during the ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting in Brunei two weeks ago for its effort in raising awareness on ASEAN among Thais.

Surapong added that Thailand will be willing to share its information on ASEAN with other members who want to raise public awareness about the regional grouping.-VNA
