Thailand’s general election will be held on July 3 after the King endorsed a royal decree to dissolve the Lower House, Government spokesperson Panitan Wattanyagorn said on May 9.

The royal decree was submitted to King Bhumibol Adulyadej on May 6 by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in which he asked for the organisation of an early election.

The same day, the Thai Constitutional Court ruled that the three new organic laws on election were constitutional, paving the way for PM to dissolve the House and the election to be held constitutionally./.
