Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Government announced the country’s political, social and economic achievements during the last year since Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha came to power at an event in Bangkok on December 23.

In his speech at the event, PM Prayut Chan-ocha affirmed his government will do its best for the Thai people and the nation, stressing that the event aims to strengthen the public’s understanding of the Government’s policies and other issues facing the country.

He asserted the Government’s determination to realise its objectives set for the next reform roadmap lasting one year and six months before handing over power to a new government to be elected in 2017.

The Thai PM called on governmental officials to work for the people and social strata to cooperate for security and development of the country. He stressed that security plays an important role for promoting socio-economic development.

He also urged Thai people to participate in the referendum on a new Constitution.

Officials in the Thai cabinet briefed on activities and achievements in the fields of their responsibility.

Before the event, PM Prayut Chan-ocha’s Government got seven out of ten points on the level of satisfaction for its economic governance from the Centre for Economic and Business Forecasting of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. The centre forecasted that Thailand’s economy is likely to expand 3 percent in 2015.-VNA
