Bangkok (VNA)Thailand’s Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) on June 24 rejected the rumor saying it has canvassed Yellow-Shirt leader Suthep Thausuban to support the draft constitution, which is being objected by the “Red-Shirt”.

CDC spokesperson Udom Rathamarit asserted that the committee did not approach Suthep, leader of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), to seek his support for the draft constitution.

He also warned the Yellow-Shirt leader to be circumspect when giving any announcements relating to draft constitution issues since it could violate the law on referendum 2016.

Meanwhile, the President of the Election Committee (EC) acknowledged that Suthep will not be considered violating the law on referendum unless he distorts the draft constitution’s content or giving arousing verbalisations.

Earlier, in a message posted on his Facebook, Suthep announced to cast his vote in the referendum. He also said the instrument is designed to reform the kingdom in all areas of politics and socio-economy.

Suthep led street demonstrations against the government of Yingluck Shinawatra that paved the way for the 2014 coup.-VNA
