The northern province of Thai Nguyen strives to increase the ratio of rural population accessing clean water to 82 percent by the end of 2014.

To achieve this target, the locality plans to inject 33 billion VND (1.6 million USD) into building and upgrading clean water supply systems in rural areas.

It will put into use a number of large-scale facilities in eight communes of Tan Phu, Nam Thai, Cat Ne, Tan Thai, Uc Ky , Xuan Phuong, Thinh Duc, and Dong Bam.

The province has started construction on two works Huong Thuong commune, Dong Hy district and an inter-communal system in Ky Phu and Van Tho communes of Dai Tu district.

Preparations are also being made for the building of two other facilities to provide clean water for residents in Dai Tu district’s Yen Lang and Cu Van communes.

Last year, 80 percent of people in Thai Nguyen’s rural areas gained access to clean water and 95 percent of schools equipped with sanitary water facilities as a result of the National Target Programme on Clean Water and Rural Environment Sanitation carried out since 2012.-VNA
