Thailand’s Saraburi province is holding its first International Folklore Festival in a bid for both Thais and foreigners to exchange cultures and traditions ahead of the upcoming ASEAN Community.

Saraburi province, in collaboration with Surindra Rajabhat University, is holding the first International Folklore Festival from January 22 to 24.

About 400 artists from 20 countries are taking part in the festival to share and exchange their cultures and knowledge through different cultural shows and dances.

The event is also aimed at promoting the province’s tourism and preparing the provincial people for the advent of ASEAN Community.

The festival gives an opportunity for people of Saraburi to learn cultures of other countries.

Apart from ASEAN neighbours, the participants to the festival are from India , Sri Lanka , Bangladesh, Nepal, China, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, Israel, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, and the US.

The festival also creates better understanding among citizens of the international community and promotes good relationship between Saraburi and the participating nations.-VNA
