Bangkok (VNA) Thailand aims to achieve 10 percent growth in tourism revenue, or 3 trillion BHT (90.5 billion USD), through tourism promotion packages to attract domestic and foreign visitors to explore new destinations with longer stays in the country.

The country’s tourism industry has already grown 8 percent this year, earning an estimated 75.43 billion USD, higher than its average annual growth of 3-5 percent.  The government believes that linking various travel agencies will push growth, while also improving tourism quality and tourists’ length of stay.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha urged every province to think of its distinctive features in terms of history, culture and more to lure tourists and encouraged the provinces to link their destinations with others in neighbouring countries.

Thailand plans to carry out a tourism campaign called Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018 between November this year and January 2019, including various international tourism-related events.

Highlights will be an international ship parade in Pattaya City and Air Race 1 Thailand at U-tapao airport in November.-VNA
