According to the French news agency AFP, military commanders from both sides met for talks in a border town near the 11 th -century temple after brief morning skirmishes early on the day. At least three people have been killed in clashes so far.
Thai army spokesman Colonel Sunsern Kaewkumnerd said that Thailand and Cambodia agreed a ceasefire and both sides will not deploy more troops to the area.
A Cambodian general also confirmed the end to hostilities but added that “the situation right now is till tense.”
Earlier, Cambodia ’s Foreign Minister Hor Namhong had written to the United Nations to draw its attention to the “explosive situation” at the country’s border with Thailand. /.
