Cambodia claimed a new truce with Thailand on April 29, just several hours after clashes erupted on the disputed border area despite a previous ceasefire.

A communiqué released by the Cambodian Defence Minister announced that military commanders from the two sides have agreed on a truce after the exchange of fire pounded the border for the eighth consecutive day on April 29.

The two sides accused each other of making the first move in the clash, violating the ceasefire reached on April 28.

The fighting broke out on April 22 surrounding the two ancient temples, Ta Moan Thom and Ta Krabek, in Oddar Meanchey province of Cambodia . The series of clashes has claimed 16 lives, injured dozens of others and caused some 85,000 locals to be evacuated./.
