The A/H1N1 virus, known as swine flu, has claimed 24 lives in Thailand since early this year, national health officials said on April 24.

According to the National News Bureau of Thailand, the highest mortality rate is among patients in the 45-64 age group. From January to mid-April, up to 29,821 people tested positive to the virus, largely in the north.

First appearing in Mexico in 2009, the H1N1 virus is transmissible from human to human. It resulted in a global epidemic that hit many countries hard around the world.-VNA
