Some 2,000 anti-riot police have been deployed in the Thailand ’s capital city of Bangkok and suburban areas to ensure security.

Thai News Agency (TNA) quoted national police spokesman Lieutenant General Pongsapat Pongcharoen, as saying that the ongoing deployment of the police personnel in these areas has been implemented amid the continued enforcement of the state of emergency.

On July 6, the Thai cabinet decided to extend the state of emergency in Bangkok and 18 other provinces out of 76 provinces of Thailand for 90 more days.

The state of emergency has allowed the government to impose martial law, prohibit gathering in public areas, censor publishing and arrest suspects without charge.

Meanwhile, police have completed investigating more than 250 cases concerned with both red-shirt and yellow-shirt groups, he said./.
