Thailand lists US citizen as terrorism financier

Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand has put Manoon Chaichana, a Thai-US citizen also known as Anek Sanfran, on the list of suspected terrorism financiers, reported Thai media on May 8.

He is accused of masterminding the grenade attack on the Thai Criminal Court in March 2015.

Deputy Defence Minister of Thailand Udomdej Sitabutr announced that the Justice and Foreign Ministries were seeking the arrest and extradition of Manoon, who is well known in California as “king of Thai noodles” after his chain of Thai shops in the US.

Thai police said that Manoon sponsored the grenade attack and a bomb plot in five other locations of Bangkok. A man arrested afterward said he received money from Manoon to launch the attack.

Manoon has also made several anti Thai Royal videos and uploaded them to YouTube.

His whereabouts are unknown and there is no further information about the process to arrest and extradite him from the US.-VNA
