Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand and Myanmar have started construction of a new friendship bridge between the two countries, with total investment of 3.9 billion THB (about 114 million USD) funded by the Thai Government.

This is the second Thailand-Myanmar friendship bridge over Moei River in Thailand’s Tak province.

Transport Minister of Thailand Arkhom Termpittayapaisith and Construction Minister of Myanmar Khaing co-hosted the ground-breaking ceremony on March 30.

Once completed in 2019, the bridge will become part of the Asian Highway 1.-VNA
