The Thai government has been supporting the country’s halal products, aiming to become one of the world’s top five exporters by 2020.

The government has implemented policies to promote halal businesses. These policies focus on creating an outstanding international reputation and promoting the latest industrial technology. Three main export groups being advocated include food, clothing, and cosmetics or spa products.

The public sector will also support businesses in maintaining international standards for halal certification. Halal exports in 2015 have a projected value of 6.1 billion US dollars or 205.7 billion baht, a growth of 5.1 percent over last year.

The government has also encouraged the private sector to participate in the Muslim fashion exhibition in Turkey and Indonesia. The exhibition is internationally renowned, and expects visitors from all over the world.-VNA
