Bangkok (VNA) - Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand (CLMVT) should build a joint master plan for connectivity and key infrastructure to raise the region’s competitiveness, said Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Somkid Jatuspritak.

Thai media quoted the Deputy PM’s statement as saying at a seminar entitled "CLMVT - New Economic Drivers of Asia" held recently in Bangkok.

According to Somkid, with a combined population of 230 million people and an average economic growth of 6 - 8 percent, the countries are drawing investment from China, India, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the United States and the European Union.

Foreign investors could also see Thailand, particularly the country’s Eastern Economic Corridor, as a gateway to CLMV, he said, encouraging CLMV-based companies to list on the stock market to increase investment capital for many projects.-VNA
