A training course aimed at promoting labour hygiene and safety opened in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on August 13.

The four-day event is organised by Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Asia and the Pacific region, and Japan ’s Central Association of Accident Prevention (CAAP).

According to the VGCL, in the process of national industrialisation and modernisation, ensuring labour hygiene and safety is a must to protect and take care of labourers’ health as well as prevent occupational accidents and diseases.

The quality of trade unions’ labour protection activities depends much on the capacity of officials in charge, it said.

During the course, participants have a chance to hear ILO and CAAP experts talk the experience of Japan and other advanced countries in ensuring labour hygiene and safety at production establishments.

In addition, they are divided into group to join fact-finding tours of factories in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.-VNA
