Flooding caused by tropical storm Fung-Wong forces tens of thousands to evacuate and one girl drowned in the Philippines capital of Manila, both local and international media reported on September 19.

Though it just brushed past the northeast tip of Luzon, Fung-Wong brought downpours across Manila on September 18.

The Philippine Government is making maximum efforts to deal with the consequences of the disaster, a spokesperson for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

Also as a consequence of the storm, 21 domestic flights from Manila airport were cancelled and several international flights had to shift the direction.-VNA
