Tropical storm Mujigae in early October 2 entered the East Sea after traversing Luzon island of the Philippines, becoming the fourth storm so far this year to impact Vietnam, according to the National Centre for Hydrometereological Forecasting.

At 8am, typhoon Mujigae’s centre was 16.3 degrees north and 119.9 degrees east, about 850km east of the Hoang Sa Archipelago. Wind speed near the centre was up to 60-75 kilometres per hour.

In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecast to move west-northwest at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour and is likely to be stronger.

By 7am of October 3, its centre will be 400km northeast of the Hoang Sa Archipelago with maximum wind speed near the centre of about 90-100 kilometres per hour.

Mujigae will continue to move west-northwest at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour in the following 24-48 hours. By 7am on October 4, its centre will be 19.9 degrees north and 111.5 degrees east. Wind speed near the centre will be about 100-120 kilometres per hour.

The storm is forecast to move quickly and become more complicated, the central said, calling for a close watch on its news.-VNA
