The Vietnam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Region 4 brought a foreign sailor in distress to hospital in Nha Trang city, central Khanh Hoa province, on May 6.

According to Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper, the troubled foreigner is Htaung Gyilian Kyaw from Malaysia, working on the Panama-flagged Union Harvest freighter. At present, he is recovering.

Earlier, on May 5, the centre received a mayday signal that a sailor on the Union Harvest, after having a serious accident, was in dangerous condition, while the ship with its 19-member crew was about 180 nautical miles from Nha Trang city.-VNA
