Tuyen Quang (VNA) – A ceremony was organised in the northern province of Tuyen Quang on December 5 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first general National Assembly (NA) election.

Participants recalled the historical milestone, which marked the first time the Vietnamese people elected their official representative agency by ballot in a democratic and equal manner.

The general election opened up a new development era for the Vietnamese nation, they said, adding that over the past 70 years, the NA has always proven itself as the embodiment of the great national unity bloc.

Hailing the activities of the province’s deputy delegation, delegates said that local deputies have served as a bridge between the State and the people by actively engaging in the agenda of the NA, especially its law-making and supervision activities.

The delegation’s activities have contributed to the local development, said Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Chau Van Lam.

He urged the deputies to continue making efforts to turn Tuyen Quang into a fairly developed province in the northern mountainous region.-VNA
