Typhoon Wutip, the tenth to hit Vietnam this year, has left scenes of havoc after making landfall in the central region.

In Quang Binh, the storm’s ferocious wind left two injured, thousands of trees were uprooted while hundreds of houses and schools have had their roofs blown off.

All the houses in Con Co island district of Quang Tri province had their roofs destroyed.

As of 5pm on September 30, Ha Tinh recorded no casualties. Five communes of Ky Anh district namely of Ky Thu, Ky Nam, Ky Thinh and Ky Trinh are inundated, with nearly 300 buildings being damaged.

The local authorities have distributed over 200 cartons of instant noodles to evacuated residents.

Thousands of households in the region have been taken to temporary shelters. Relevant forces have been deployed to offer assistance.

The power line linking Ha Tinh and Da Nang was disrupted, causing outages in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue.

The Electricity of Vietnam Corporation also asked its affiliates to do all they can to restore power as soon as possible.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai inspected the work against the storm in Quang Binh. He urged the local authorities to watch over the situation and brace for all possible contingencies.-VNA
