A ceremony to sign an agreement on developing tertiary education between the UK and Vietnam took place in Hanoi on November 4.

Signatories were the British Ambassador to Vietnam , Anthony Stokes and the Director of the British University Vietnam (BUV), Graeme Davies.

Under the agreement, Ambassador Stokes, as representative of the UK government, will become member of BUV executive board and will directly manage its operations.

Additionally, the UK government will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese students learning in the UK by offering preferential tuitions.

Ambassador Stokes said that the signing demonstrates close bilateral relations since the two countries established the strategic partnership last year, especially in education.

As the first UK university to be licensed in Vietnam , BUV provides courses in the fields of banking and finance, international business management and marketing management.

The university began recruiting students in October 2010 in Hanoi . It will officially open its main office in the northern province of Hung Yen province in 2014./.
