The resort town of Sa Pa in the northern province of Lao Cai is experiencing cold weather in the summer as temperature suddenly fell to 12.6 degrees Celsius on early July 6.

This is the lowest temperature in the summer in the past decade in the popular tourist destination. In 2005, the town recorded temperature dropping to 13 degrees Celsius in mid-summer, according to local people.

According meteorologists, the unusual weather was a result of global climate change.

The region has been suffering from a depression which caused long, heavy rains in the past days.-VNA
