The southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has launched urgent measures to search for seven fishermen who went missing after an accident at sea on the morning of August 6, 238 nautical miles to the south of Vung Tau.

According to the Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue, an unidentified ship collided with fishing boat BV 95134 TS, sinking it and leaving seven missing, including the boat’s captain.

The same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked Indonesia to help in the search for the missing fishermen.

Vietnam ’s Marine Rescue Cooperation Centre (Vietnam MRCC) also informed Indonesia ’s MRCC for joint search and rescue activities.

At 2pm the same day, the Indonesia MRCC said that it will send a plane to search for the missings. However, the plane could not take off due to unfavourable weather.-VNA
