Hanoi (VNA) – Vice President of the Vietnam - US Society Bui The Giang hosted a reception in Hanoi on November 4 for a delegation from the US Friendship Force International (FFI) who are on a fact-finding trip to Vietnam.

The 18-member delegation’s visit aims to get an insight into Vietnam as well as its people, history, culture, and customs, thus promoting the mutual understanding and friendship between the Vietnamese people and international friends.

At the meeting, Giang briefed the guests about Vietnam’s development and international integration, as well as its difficulties in tackling post-war consequences, such as unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance and Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims.

He highlighted Vietnam’s positive economic development in recent years, reflected by high GDP and export-import growth rates.

Giang also affirmed that Vietnam has actively participated in regional and global organisations, and improved its status on the international arena.

The delegation expressed their admiration for the concerted efforts the Vietnamese Government and the people have made during the national development process.

During the two-week visit, the delegation also met with leaders of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, and are scheduled to pay fact-finding trips to the Vietnam Friendship Village in Hanoi, UNESCO-recognised world natural heritage Ha Long Bay, Sapa, the central cities of Hue and Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.-VNA
