Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of Defence, received the visiting Executive Director of the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Vietnam (POW/MIA), Ann M. Griffiths, in Hanoi on March 18.

At the reception, Vinh affirmed that MIA activities have been actively implemented by authorised Vietnamese agencies and localities over the past time and that the work recorded encouraging results, representing Vietnam ’s goodwill, humanity and cooperation in the MIA issue and other issues of the two countries’ common interest.

He said he wished that in the coming time, the MIA agency in Vietnam together with relevant Vietnamese agencies will speed up MIA operations, positively contributing to fostering the multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

For her part, Ann. M. Griffiths spoke highly of the Vietnamese government’s support for MIA operations over the past years.

She expressed her wish to receive more assistance and cooperation from the Defence Ministry and other relevant agencies in Vietnam so that MIA operations can yield better results in the future, meeting the demand of American MIA families and helping boost the Vietnam-US cooperation./.
