Thirteen professors and experts from the City University of New York have been on a visit to Vietnam from Jan. 3-17 to study possibilities for education and training cooperation.

The delegation was received on Jan. 10 by President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong, who informed the US scholars about the country’s socio-economic development and bilateral relations, especially in the economy, trade, education and training.

Boasting a young population, Vietnam always pays special attention to the development of education and training, he said, adding that the number of Vietnamese students coming to the US for study is growing.

Hong said he hoped that Vietnamese and US universities would increase exchanges and cooperation in order to meet the development requirements of both sides.

Prof. Michael Edward Kress and the delegation’s members all expressed the wish to inquire into Vietnam ’s development strategy, including its education and training scheme, education and training system as well as cooperation opportunities and potential in this field.

While in Vietnam, the US professors and experts visited a number of education establishments and well-known landscapes./.
