Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – A tanker vessel sank in Malaysia’s territorial waters, 4.6 nautical miles off Pengerang in Johor state on June 15.

Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) deputy director-general Mohd Taha Ibrahim said they were alerted by the Singaporean Police Coast Guard about the Equatorial Guinea-registered vessel, MT Putri Sea, catching fire after an explosion in its engine room.

The vessel sank as MMEA members arrived at the accident. The MMEA is working to locate the missing crewmembers, who are six Indonesians, aged 28-39.-VNA
