The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on April 15 decided to ban six players for life from V.League 1 club Dong Nai FC for match fixing.

Former captain Pham Huu Phat, as the mastermind of the scam, was fined 30 million VND (1,400 USD), while the rest were fined 20 million VND (950 USD) each.

Players have the right to appeal the decision.

The players were arrested after a match between Dong Nai and Quang Ninh Coal on July 20 last year.

Three players and one coaching assistant have been disciplined for using bad language and fighting during the ongoing National Futsal Championships in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ton That Phi of Thai Son Bac, Nguyen Dac Huy of Tan Hiep Hung were fined 5 million VND (240 USD) and banned for five matches each.

Co Tri Kiet of Tan Hiep Hung was fined 5 million VND and sidelined for four matches.

Assistant Truong Hong Tai of Tan Hiep Hung was told to pay 2 million VND and spend two matches in the stands due to his aggressive behaviour towards referees.

The match on April 13 ended up with Thai Son Bac winning 4-2 with three red cards given to players from both sides and another to assistant Tai after a brawl broke out.

It is the third time that the VFF has fined players.

Last week, Huynh Van Phuc and Tran Van Trung of Hoang Thu Da Nang were banned for six months for deliberately kicking balls at the referee during their 2-0 loss to Sanna Khanh Hoa.

Casanco and Hai Phuong Nam Phu Nhuan were also docked a point following evidence of match fixing.-VNA
