Thanh Hoa (VNA) - President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan extended Christmas greetings to Catholic dignitaries and followers in Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh and Thai Binh during his visits to the provinces on December 23.

During his meetings with the parishioners, the VFF leader expressed his hope that the local Catholic communities will continue promoting solidarity and contributing more to the nation’s development.

While affirming the Catholic communities’ role in the country’s development, Nhan called on priests to join hands with parishioners in enhancing the national great unity bloc, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.

Archbishop of the Thanh Hoa Diocese Giuse Nguyen Chi Linh expressed his delight at the growing ties between the Catholic communities and administrations at all levels.

Bishops in the provinces said the recent approval of the Law on Belief and Religion will facilitate religious activities, especially in education and health care, and make it easy for Catholic communities to contribute further to the cause of national construction and defence.-VNA
