Hanoi (VNA) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan held a reception for Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam in Hanoi on November 15.

The host spoke highly of Singapore’s preparations for the construction of two new Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) in central Nghe An province and northern Hai Duong province, the sixth and seventh of its kinds in Vietnam.

He suggested the two sides work together to call for foreign investors in all seven VSIPs across the country.

The VFF leader proposed the Singaporean side build similar parks in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, focusing on agriculture and seafood.

He informed the Singaporean Deputy PM that the VFF has the major tasks of protecting citizens’ legitimate rights and interests and carrying out supervision and social criticism.

He noted his hope that Singapore shares its experience in monitoring the enforcement of law in public offices.

Deputy PM Tharman Shanmugaratnam said his visit aims to learn from Vietnam’s experience in community building and assisting the elderly and children.

He also shared the Singaporean Government’s experience in letting people to monitor law enforcement of civil authority agencies.

Host and guest expressed their belief that the relationship between the two countries will be enhanced in the time ahead.-VNA
