Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on August 13 granted 480 scholarships to underprivileged students with outstanding performance in four central provinces.

She presented the gifts to the needy in Quang Nam , Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen on the occasion of her working visit to Quang Nam province.

Speaking at the granting ceremony, the Vice President lauded the students’ spirit in overcoming difficulties to reap achievements, and encouraged them to become good citizens for their families and society.

She used the occasion to call on organisations at home and abroad to continue supporting and joining hands with the Vietnam Children’s Fund (VCF) to offer more assistance to children living in hardship.

The same day, Vice President Doan offered incense at the memorial house to late President of the State Council Vo Chi Cong in Tam Xuan 1 commune, Nui Thanh district.

Talking with the communal leaders and people, she stressed that the Party and State will continue bettering their work of taking care of wounded and sick soldiers as well as families that rendered service to the nation.

On the occasion, she presented 30 gifts to outstanding families in the communes.

During her visit, the Vice President also visited the construction site of monuments to heroic Vietnamese mothers in Tam Ky district and offered incense at the memorial house to late Acting President Huynh Thuc Khang in Tien Phuoc district.-VNA
