Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan expressed her pleasure at the fine development of relations between Vietnam and Australia while receiving New South Wales Governor Marie Bashir, in Hanoi, on Oct. 28.

Vice President Doan thanked the Australian government for its support to Vietnam , especially its official development assistance (ODA) to fund the building of Cao Lanh bridge in the Mekong delta region.

The leader said the two countries are boosting economic and trade relations to be on a par with political ties and match with the potential and desire of both sides.

The two sides are trying to increase two-way trade so that each country will become one of the ten largest trade partners of the other, she said, expressing her hope that Vietnam would receive more support from Australia in education, culture, agriculture and finance.

Governor Marie Bashir stressed Australia always attaches importance to boosting cooperation with Vietnam and believed that bilateral relations will further develop in the years to come./.
