The 2012 Vietnamese Architectural Exhibition (VietArc 2012), themed “Green Architecture”, began on June 7 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City.

Jointly held by the Vietnam Association of Architects, HCM City’s Association of Architects, the Gia Phuc Media Joint Stock Company, the four-day event boasts 300 stands divided into different sections including materials and technology, interior décor and living space, a section for the city’s Young Entrepreneurs Association, students’ inventions and businesses from the US.

The organising board encouraged and asked participants to use environment friendly and energy-saving technologies, green, light and recycled materials in their designs.

A series of seminars on architecture and technologies will also be held to supply information on green projects and materials, especially seminars on the Law for Architects and on Green Architecture with many experts taking part.

Architect Nguyen Thu Phong, a representative of the VietArc 2012 organising board, said that the exhibition is expected to create a firm foundation for the sustainable development of Vietnamese architecture.

The same day the Municipal Association of Architects held a press conference to introduce a creative campaign, with the theme “Urban Architectural Ideas”.-VNA
