Domestic and foreign businesses have signed 2,340 economic contracts worth more than 200 billion VND (9.4 million USD) during the five-day Vietbuild 2013 International Exhibition in the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho.

The figure was announced by representatives of the Can Tho International Exhibition Fair Centre on October 7, who said this is an optimistic signal in the context of the current economic difficulties.

The inked deals focused on the trading of industrial and civil construction equipment and products. In addition, many foreign firms also decided to establish their representative offices and sign up distributors in Can Tho and other major cities nationwide.

The fair, the fifth of its kind held so far in the city, is the most successful, especially in terms of trade and investment promotion, technology transfer, market expansion and international integration.

An estimated 40,000 visitors came to the event, which took place from October 2-6 and featured 450 pavilions run by more than 200 exhibitors from nine countries, namely the Republic of Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Germany, China, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
