The Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) has provided an aid package worth 69.2 billion VND (3.46 million USD) to poor districts in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang .

At a ceremony on Jan. 16, Vietinbank handed over four ambulances each worth 947 million VND to medical centres in Dong Van and Xin Man districts, and hospitals in Meo Vac town and Hoang Su Phi district.

The bank gave over 4.8 billion VND to build a medical centre in Dong Van town, 32 billion VND to build four safe water reservoirs, and nearly 4 billion to build Lung Cu kindergarten in Dong Van district.

It also gave 60 scholarships each worth 300,000 VND to poor pupils and handed over 401 houses worth nearly 9 billion VND to poor households in the province.

According to Vietinbank Deputy General Director Nguyen Van Du, since 2009, the bank has provided over 114.77 billion VND (5.73 million USD) to poor localities in Ha Giang province in implementing government’s poverty reduction programmes./.
