Hanoi (VNA) – The VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet Air) has placed an order for 30 more A321s (21 A321neo and 9 A321ceo).

The order was signed on November 10 at the 2015 Dubai Airshow by Vietjet Air President and CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, and John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, at a disclosed value of 3.6 billion USD.

“Today’s order for additional A321s is part of our growth strategy, and aims to meet the need for additional seats on both domestic and international routes,” said Thao. “Our aim is to be Vietnam and Asia’s new-age carrier, known for quality, efficiency and comfort, and our A320 fleet has earned us this reputation.”

The A321 is the largest member of the best-selling single aisle A320 Family. To date, the A320 Family has won more than 12,200 orders and more than 6,700 aircraft have been delivered to more than 300 operators worldwide.

Incorporating new engines and the latest technology, the A320neo Family will bring a 15-percent reduction in fuel consumption from day one, and 20 per cent by 2020. They will also have longer-range capabilities and reduced maintenance costs, as well significantly reduced carbon emissions. With more than 4,300 orders received from 75 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320neo Family has captured a 60-percent share in the market.

The aircrafts will be delivered from the end of 2016 to 2020, and Vietjet Air will receive from 8 to 12 aircraft each year.

Along with the order, the airline will continue expanding its network of air routes, and providing friendly services and comfort at good prices.

On November 8, the airline also received a new Airbus A321 jet, its 29th aircraft.

Vietjet first took to the skies at the end of 2011 and now operates a fleet of 29 A320 Family aircraft, including three A321s, on a network covering Vietnam and a growing number of destinations across Asia. Following the announcement on the deal on November 10, the airline has placed firm orders with Airbus for a total of 99 A320 Family aircraft.

Vietjet Air operates about 190 flights a day on 35 domestic and international routes, including to Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand and Myanmar.

The airline started selling tickets on domestic and international routes from Vietnam to Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea and Myanmar for the 2016 New Year holiday with the policy “the sooner you buy a ticket, the cheaper the price”.

The airline will increase the frequency of high-demand routes, such as Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi (more than 20 round trips per day), Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang (10 round trips), Ho Chi Minh City – Hue (four round trips), Ho Chi Minh City – Hai Phong (six round trips) and Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang (three round trips).
