Vietnam, in any circumstance, will make every effort together with Laos to preserve and foster the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan made the affirmation while meeting with Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and National Assembly Chairwoman Pani Yathotou in Vientiane on December 17.

Nhan congratulated Laos on its achievements made after nearly three years of implementing the Resolution of the 9th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), with a growth rate of over eight percent and an annual per-capita income of 1,490 USD.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao people will successfully realise the resolution, building Laos into a country of peace, independence, democracy, unity and prosperity.

He also briefed his hosts on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation, cooperation between the VFF and the Lao National Construction Front, as well as the main contents of the second meeting of the Presidents of the Fronts of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The Lao leaders expressed their wish that Nhan, in his new capacity, will continue boosting cooperation between the two Fronts, thus fostering the Vietnam-Laos special relationship.

They said they hope that the Vietnamese and Lao Fronts in particular and the Fronts of the three Indochinese countries in general will strengthen cooperation, solidarity and friendship among their peoples, contributing to the sustainable development of their neighbourliness.-VNA
