The Vietnam-Laos special friendship was an invaluable asset of the two nations that should be preserved, promoted and transmitted to future generations.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the affirmation while receiving a delegation from the Office of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee led by its head, Bounpon Buttanavong, in Hanoi on September 5.

The Vietnamese Party chief applauded the Lao delegation’s visit, saying that it will help tighten and further strengthen the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity.

He expressed his belief that with their great achievements and valuable experience from the 25-year renewal and five years of implementing the Resolution of the 8 th LPRP Congress, the Lao Party, State and people will successfully implement the Resolution of the 9 th Congress and the 7 th five-year socio-economic development plan, building Laos into a peaceful, independent, democratic, united and prosperous socialist-oriented country.

General Secretary Trong said he was pleased with the practical and effective developments of the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos as well as the effective cooperation between the Offices of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and LPRP Central Committees.

He expressed hope that in the future, the two agencies will regularly exchange experience, speed up the effective implementation of high-level agreements between the two Parties and closely coordinate in realising a cooperative agreement between the two offices in the 2011-2015 period.

For his part, Bounpon Buttanavong, who was also Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee, congratulated the Vietnamese people on their great renewal achievements, expressing his belief that under the leadership of the CPV, the Vietnamese people will successfully implement the Resolution of the 11 th Party Congress and continue to comprehensively step up the renewal process to turn Vietnam into an industrialised and strong country with wealthy people, and a democratic, equitable and civilised society by 2020.

He thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their past great and valuable support and assistance to Laos .

He affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will try their best, together with Vietnam , to maintain and promote the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations for the interests of the two countries’ people as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

Earlier, the Lao officials held talks with a delegation from the CPV Central Committee Office led by its head, Tran Quoc Vuong. The two sides discussed specific measures to boost their future cooperation and signed a cooperative plan for the 2011-2015 period./.
