Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Minh Tri has attended a ceremony observing the International Day of Peace in Kremenchuk city, Poltava, Ukraine.

Peace, stability, and development are strong desires of human beings, Ambassador Tri underscored addressing the event.

He spoke of Vietnamese people’s bravery and sacrifices to fight for peace, national freedom and dignity.

Tri expressed his hope that peace will soon be restored in Ukraine so the country’s traditional friendship and multi-dimensional partnership with Vietnam will be fostered.

After the ceremony, Ambassador Tri had a meeting with Kremenchuk city’s First Deputy Mayor Viktor Kalashnyk and other local leaders.

He was introduced to local strengths such as metallurgy, agricultural production and helicopter pilot training.

Kremenchuk and Poltava authorities showed interests in developing ties with ASEAN countries, and those with established traditional ties, like Vietnam.

They committed to providing all possible conditions for Vietnamese expats living and operating businesses in their localities.

This year’s International Day of Peace is themed “Partnerships for Peace- Dignity for All”, aiming to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.

The United Nations General Assembly established the International Day of Peace in 1981 as an opportunity for people around the world to promote the resolution of conflict and to observe a cessation of hostilities.-VNA
