Vietnamese athletes on Nov. 12 won four gold medals among their first medals in the first day of official competition at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games taking place in Indonesia.

Two canoeists Nguyen Thi Mai and Kieu Thi Hao took the gold medal after defeating their Singaporean competitors in the women’s doubles 500m- race.

Nguyen Dinh Toan-Nguyen Minh Tu from Vietnamese Taekwondo team surpassed the Philippines ’ pair to get gold at the mixed doubles event. Meanwhile, Duong Thanh Tam pocketed one gold in the under-74kg category.

In Karatedo, Thach Thi Trang got the first gold medal after trouncing the host country’s athlete Nardiah Nasution at the women’s weight division of 68 kg./.
