A seminar to promote cooperation between Vietnamese and Belgian localities was held in Brussels on November 6 with the participation of 11 Belgian governors.

As part of the activities to mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, the event was organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium.

Addressing the seminar, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau briefed participants on Vietnam’s politic and socio-economic situation as well as the country’s policies for cooperation between Vietnam’s localities with foreign countries, including Belgium.

He spoke highly of the cooperation, especially in economics and education-training between Vietnam and Belgium in general and between their provinces and cities in particular, expressing his hope that the governors will give more support to cooperation programmes between the two sides in the coming time.

Governor of Luxembourg province Bernard Caprasse affirmed that Belgium’s localities are always willing to enhance cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of education-training, health and environment.

He said he hopes that more and more Vietnamese staffs and students will receive interregional scholarships to study in Belgium in the future.

According to Governor of West Flanders province Jan Briers, his province has linked with many Vietnamese localities, especially Mekong Delta provinces and cities over the past two decades.
