Vietnam have risen 35 places to 99th position in FIFA's world football rankings.

It's the first time ever that the Vietnamese men's team have topped Thailand (at 122nd) to lead the Southeast Asia region in the rankings. Indonesia is in third (at 144th) and Singapore are in fourth (at 145th).

It is also the first time in seven years that Vietnam has returned to the top 100. The nation was last in the top 100 in September 2004, ranking 96th in the world. Vietnam 's highest standing is 84th, achieved in September 1998.

Spain are still leading the world with 1,564 points, with the Netherlands and Germany at second and third, respectively./.
