Senior military officers of Vietnam and the Czech Republic had talks in Hanoi on August 15, agreeing to focus collaboration on such areas as personnel training, defence industry, scientific research, military technology, and military equipment maintenance.

The talks was held between Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Gen. Petr Pavel, Chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of the Czech Republic.

Basing on unanimous contents, relevant agencies of the two defence ministries will soon build up and sign an action plan to effectively realise their memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation.

At the talks, both sides also shared their experience in building and modernising their armed forces and exchanged views on global issues as well as matters of mutual concern.

The Czech delegation’s visit to Vietnam, which will last until August 17, aims to strengthen bilateral defence connection, thus consolidating the friendship between the two armies and peoples.-VNA
